International partnership of the Aliança SIPA with the Fonds de Dotation Roullier

The Aliança SIPA signed its first international partnership agreement with Fonds de Dotation Roullier (FDR). FDR was created in 2016 with the aim of researching, promoting and encouraging sustainable agriculture in France and worldwide. The partnership will foster research that supports the Integrated Production in Agricultural Systems Program (PISA).

PISA is a concept of sustainable production developed in 2008 by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA), with technical coordination from the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR) and the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). It differs from other initiatives by printing a systemic view on technical and managerial interventions in rural properties, and using cutting-edge science in the search for sustainable production in line with the objectives of sustainable development (SDGs – UN). Currently, this Program is led by the SIPA Alliance and taken to rural producers by the Juntos para Competir Program (FARSUL, SENAR-RS AND SEBRAE-RS).

PISA has already been implemented in more than 1,600 rural properties in southern Brazil. Most of them are small family milk producers who have difficulties in managing their business, high costs and workload. PISA reaches out to these families by proposing sustainable and lasting solutions, which transform the production model into more profitable, less vulnerable systems, promoting satisfaction and pride within the family. As for meeting the objectives of sustainable production, PISA is guided by the four dimensions of sustainability established by FAO: environmental sustainability, economic resilience, good governance and social well-being. All technical and managerial interventions are aligned with indicator parameters for each of these dimensions.

FDR will finance the organization of the PISA database, and the publication of a technical information bulletin presenting the main results of the project, with a view to giving visibility to a program already considered a benchmark for sustainable production.
